ICE” , In Case of Emergency, is designed to let your cell phone help emergency responders provide better service for you. When you are not able to answer questions, the “ICE” listing in your cell phone will allow fire or police officials to call a contact person who will be able to give vital information that may help identify you or give any permanent medical or contact data. The idea is simple. Cell phone users are asked to designate a person or persons as ICE contacts and provide them with basic information listed in a brochure provided by your local police and fire departments. Then the user should program into their phone’s contacts listing the word ICE accompanied by a name and number. On an emergency scene a cell phone in the possession of a victim may be accessed for ICE the phone listing and a call made to your contact person. Every cell phone user is urged to take a few moments and implement the ICE program. For assistance or a copy of the brochure, contact your local Police Department or the Fire Department.
