MESS CALL #4                                  5/23/06                                CHIEF TERRY COX

As the spring turns to summer, MESS has kept busy. When I last reported, (MESS) had responded to 29 requests for service. We have added 9 more and served over 1100. We are up to call #38 and over 1900 servings for the year.

Demonstrations, structure fires, roadside safety checks, statewide drills, burn downs, wild land fires, ambulance box alarms, and paramedic certification classes has offered a variety of calls that challenged the new people and gave them excellent training.

The “T” shirt program is coming to the end. I hope you received yours because they work great in identifying us at an emergency incident and saves being challenged by the police and others. Good Job AC Epstein and the board.

The sweatshirt orders are going to cut off on June 1. If you want one or two please contact AC Epstein a.s.a.p. Like the “T” shirts, the price will jump with the next order because there is no bulk order and there will be set up charges.

Thank you Joel Nelson #217

Joel has resigned from the Lake Zurich crew. Joel started with MESS, January 30, 2002 and was one of our first responders. He did not miss many call outs in that four year time frame. Joel has been counted on by Chief Lang to help teach new crewmembers, respond to calls, and did countless special events. Over the last few months Joel was charged with the inventory for L.Z. We will miss the services and camaraderie of Joel and his wife. Good luck Joel.
